STAGE II
AGE: 8 to 9 MONTHS
SIGNS OF READINESS:
1 ACCEPTS BASIC FOODS (PUREES)
2 MASTERS THE SKILL OF SWALLOWING FOOD AND BEGINS TO CHEW THE FOOD.
FEEDING GUIDELINES
1 USE A DEEPER SPOON
2 TRY GIVING ABOUT 2-3 TABLESPOONS OF SOLIDS PER MEAL
3 DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BABY UN-ATTENDED WHILE EATING TO AVOID CHOKING HAZARD
4 LUMPY FOODS CAN BE INTRODUCED AT THIS STAGE TO ENCOURAGE CHEWING
5 CONTINUE TO BREAST FEED, THOUGH REDUCING THE NUMBER OF FEEDS PER DAY
6 TRY FEEDING BREAST MILK IN A CUP OR GLASS, DO NOT FORCE THE CUP TO BABY. HE WILL LEARN TO USE IT GRADUALLY

IF YOU ARE INTENDING TO INTRODUCE A CUP TO GIVE BREAST MILK, ENSURE THAT YOU EXPRESS MILK REGULARLY IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN THE FLOW.

2 hours later Breast milk ( in a cup)/Formula
Breakfast Avocado Apple and Lentil (3 Tbsp)
2 hours later Breast milk ( in a cup)/Formula

Before noon nap Breast feed
2 hours later Breast milk ( in a cup)/Formula
Dinner Lumpy foods
Sleep time Breast feed
